NEWS UPDATE – May 2010

Cor blimey Gov – we’re back!!!

After a six month break the Sarnies are back in town! Whoa hoo I hear from the voices inside me head – that’s fantastic! The reason for such a long break? Was it because the Sandwich needed to be replaced because the sell-by date was up? Was it because the band have only managed to sober up & find their way back from Snowdonia following the Aliens & Demons Festival back in October? No neither… in fact Gray-ted Cheese & partner had a baby boy during Xmas & so he has been busy changing nappies & buying Motorhead babygrows for the little ‘un. Congratulations!!!

Following on from the private party the Sarnie boys played in loverly Ludla the other week & more gigs are expected this coming year, including the Talbot, Bewdley (20th May) and Bishops Castle in October, the band are also hopeful of another crack at some Summer festivals – so watch this space!!! The boys are also working on new material (or should that be reworking other peoples’ old material?) and hope to air some of the new songs at the forthcoming show in Bewdley.

Anyway bye for now , hope to see you at a gig soon!

Update – October 2009

Yo Sarnie lovers! well, well, well its about time we had a little update on this the official web site for the greatest bread-based covers band. Thanks for all the support so far this year, its not been our busiest year by any stretch, but we in sarnie-world believe in quality not quantity yer know.

Great gig last week in front of our ‘home’ crowd in Bewdley – great turn out and great atmosphere, even though we didn’t go on til late.

Couple of gigs to finish the year off – 23rd/24th October is the Aliens & Demons festival in Snowdonia. Tickets can be only be brought in advance from www.fexprojects.com Line up includes live music from EAT STATIC, FAR TOO LOUD et al and plenty of DJ’s to dance the night away. We’ll be playing on the Friday night (23rd) due to our hectic lifestyles, but we hope to see you there!

Lastly we are playing the Robin2 in Bilston, Wolverhampton on the afternoon of 29th November, it’s a Robin2 showcase, so there’ll be loads of live music throughout the afternoon and all for FREE!!!

Well that’s it for now! No Christmas gigs are scheduled ‘cos the drummers’ girlfriend is expecting during the festive period and he’ll be busy getting up in the middle of the night and changing nappies!!! If we don’t see you at the next 2 gigs (& why not?) then we’ll see you in the New Year.

No xmas gig this year…bah humbug!

Yay me old muckers, it’s been a while since the last update…well you know how it is don’t yer….!!?? Eh? Yer don’t? well don’t get me started hehe!!! Lets just say we’ve been all very busy!

Last gig of this year was last week at the Tuns, BC – shame on you if you missed it, no doubt we’ll be back there in the New Year! Haven’t got a lot to report really apart from yes we are all still alive (well we were the last time we checked) and we’re pretty much up for anything (well Gray is)… so if you know anyone who wants a party band for a raucous event then give us a thought!!!

So for the last time this year it’s time to put the old sandwich back in it’s lunchbox – hope to see you next year have a splendid xmas and New Year!!!

News update October 2007

Hi Sarnie fans…Thought we’d be having a few months off following a pretty hectic summer, but we have a couple of gigs lined up before years end and have even started booking into the New Year. Don’t forget if you want regular gig updates please e-mail sister.sandwich@yahoo.co.uk and we’ll send you regular bulletins.

It's nearly there - honest I can feel it in me dough!!! The NEW SISTER SANDWICH album will be released in the next month or so (definitely before XMAS!!!!) - honest. Entitled ‘Tales from the Toaster’ the track list is: toxic, eat some trifle, video killed the radio star, centrefold, can't get you out of my head, all day and all of the night, swords of a thousand men, monkey man, wasted (live), walkin' on sunshine (live), just can't get (it up) (live), love song (live).

We’ll also be re-releasing the ‘Albun’ and ‘Ready, Bready, Cook’ fairly soon – so there’s no excuse not to have all your favourite Sarnie tunes on your I-pod or whatever…anyway I’m outta here, cya soon

News update – 28th August 2007

Back due to popular demand the Sarnies will play to their 'home' crowd at the Talbot, Bewdley, Thursday 6th September...cya there! We’re still looking for a support band for this gig, so if you or someone you know are interested in playing give us a shout!

Phew! Wot a summer it’s been…the Sarnies have been so busy, with hugely enjoyable gigs in Fareham, Brum, Ludlow and good ol’ BC, the launch of the brand new-look website and further work on the new Album (will it ever be finished and released???).

Hope you like our new look website, it’s taken a lot of hard work from the multi-talented Chris-py Lettuce, who is also convinced that a bearded woman is stalking the band and can be usually seen at gigs hurling abuse and dancing in front of a giant sandwich… perhaps the pressure is finally getting to him!!!???

Keep checking for regular updates and new website features as they’ll be added in the coming months.

Cya soon!

Sarnies kick Easter Bunnies' Arse!!! - 10 April 2007

Hail to you chocolate devourers.. yes it's what Easter is all about!!!! Thanks to everyone who turned up at the Talbot on 'Maundy Thursday'. If you weren't there the door had to be locked to stop more the punters coming in as it was so rammed with people! The band probably had more room than anyone else (and that weren't much).

Thanks to Britney Spears who made an appearance straight from rehab (sporting a beard???), Woody the Snowmaker and to all the people in the 'corridor of uncertainty' oohh and not forgetting the ever brilliant 'Billy Whizz' (didn't they look smart?!), who helped warm up the atmosphere.

Can't remember the last time a band filled the Talbot - its gotta be years ago, so thanks to all the support. Keep it up! Next show is hopefully a slot at Ludlow Carnival.

Happy 2007

Hi people / Sarnie lovers.. etc.

I was lying in bed last night thinking about when in the year it becomes too late to wish someone 'Happy New Year!'?

For example, if you haven't seen someone for 12 months or so and you meet them in September this year (for example), is it acceptable to wish them 'Happy New Year!'? as its the first time you have seen them this year or would someone listening to your conversation think you were a f**kin' idiot (as well as the person you are wishing a Happy New Year to???)

Or, in the above circumstances, would it be more appropriate to wish them a 'Happy New Year' for the on-coming next year, especially if you're not likely to see them again for a while?? or would it be best not to mention it at all and pretend it never happened. My good lady wife reckoned one had until March to wish someone the best for the new year! Has anyone else got an opinion on this?

Well as a consequence I didn't get much sleep last night as the conundrum span around and round in my head. perhaps I better not eat cheese based products before I go to sleep and perhaps I better f88k off and worry about more important things!!!!..

C'yer oh! and a Happy New Year!

Thanks for all the Fish!!! News update 19 December 2006

Well it's nearing the end of the year as we know it! It'll soon be 2007. We hope that next year we'll have more gigs to offer you all as we intend to spread ourselves around a bit more and we're all ready being booked up for a quite a few parties and even a couple of weddings!!

We'll also be finishing off the new album over xmas.. it's nearly there, just a few more vocal tracks to add and a final remix and I don't mind tellin' ya - it's goin' be a cracker!!! We'll also be working on a new set.. we played a couple of new songs at our recent Bewdley gig (a rendition of Automatic's 'Monster', entitled 'W**ker' and an unbelievable version of Pink Floyd's, The Wall) (WELL YOU HAD TO BE THERE TO BELIEVE IT!!!!)

If you have any (serious) ideas for new songs let us know via this sites contacts page or via the profile of the band on myspace (www.myspace.com/sistersandwich2).

Next year we also aim to re-launch and re-design the Sarnie website, so hopefully we'll have more space to put some video footage, band member animations and other stuff on, work is currently underway!

Anyway that's us for this year.. thanks to all the people who turned up at the Talbot and had a good time, luckily for us that was quite a few of you!

To each and everyone of you Sarnie lovers out there.. ave a good 'un and we'll see ya soon!!

Yours (with holly 'round the edges)

NEWS - 8 November 2006

Yo Sarnies loons!!!! Yep its nearly time for the silly season, where fools dress up as fools in the thin guise/excuse that be known as entertainment! The Sarnies are playing their last gig of the year on December 14th at the Talbot in fluffy Bewdley, so get there if ya can!

Other tack to tell ya about - well I've managed to master my incompetence enough to launch a profile of the band on myspace (www.myspace.com/sistersandwich2). If that fails then get a hammer to your computer, if that also fails then search for Sister Sandwich in the Music/bands section! (or should it be the other way round??)

News on the new album.. Christ its slow goin' y'know! Hoping to lay down the vocals soon, but not sure of release date yet, probably New Year now.. c'mon you've been waiting for 6 years another 1 ain't goin' kill ya!!!

Hopefully see you on the 14th, if not hopefully in New Year, all the best and a ho! ho! ho!

Update - Captain's log Star date 2006, September 6th

Hi guys and gals, sorry just thought of Star Trek (not that I'm a 'trekkie' or anything.. perhaps I'm just working tooo hard!!).

Firstly I'd like to thank the support and organisation for last weekends 'HillEnd Fest' in Bishop's Castle. Once again great atmosphere and friendly reception for your favourite Bread-based punk band!!! Thanks also to Ry-bread who filled in for Chris-py Lettuce on the bass.. I think we got away with it. Thanks also to Ade (Garibaldies) for organising the event and to everyone else who made the event a success (Robin, Demolition, etc) Last thanks to Dan and Mustard who made the journey over from France. Dan was the 'Sarnies' original guitarist and was with the band for 10 years, it was the first time he had seen the band since he left.

Quick news.. Talbot in Bewdley gig off I'm afraid due to holiday commitments. Sorry but we'll organise something before the end of the year!

We have recorded NEW ALBUM entitled 'Tales from the Toaster' and it should be released by the end of the year. We will also be re-releasing THE ALBUN originally released back in 1996, but now on CD format.

Better go! I'll speak soon

Update 27th March 2006

Yo Sandwich fans, Happy New Year!!! Thought it was about time for a quickie.. the Sarnies have been busy over the last few months, firstly a Xmas spectacular at the old ol' Talbot, we managed a 2-hour bonanza of old Sandwich classics.. our longest ever set (see photos on photo section), we played a gig in the middle of nowhere (in a field near Knighton), what a night.. hope you enjoyed your 40th Woz!

Last Thursday we played a long awaited return gig at Kidderminster.. it's been over ten years! Unfortunately the gig was the last night for Rich at the Seven Stars as the pub was closing at the end of the night, hope we helped end the era with a bang!

Future gigs include the Varsity in Wolverhampton 29th of April. Keep checking website for details of travel arrangements from Cleobury and Bewdley.

News update – November 2005
Hi Sarnie fans,

Some good news and some bad news I'm afraid . . firstly the good we had a stonking gig at the Talbot last month, cheers to 'audience participation' and to our friends from Ledbury, 'Billy Whizz'. It was a landmark gig for us, our 50th GIG!

The bad news is that the gig at the Taphouse in Kidderminster was cancelled due to the venue organisers double booking us. Between you and me they didnt really want us to play and prefer to have some teenage poncey indie bollock band instead (not that Im bitter or anything!) Anyway we are organising another date in Kiddy but at another venue well keep you posted. We are also trying to get a gig organised for Xmas, but time is running out . . only 31 days to go (who really gives a toss . . apart from shopaholics?)

Chick Roll came up with a good idea the other week and we will try to feature it on the website soon. We need photos of Sarnie fans wearing Sister Sandwich t-shirts in exotic locations around the world, send them in and well put them on the website. (well have no fakes please, so no cut and paste of someone sat on top of Everest wearing only a t-shirt!)

Speak soon . . The Sister XXX

Newsflash October 2005 - GIG CANCELLATION
Apologies to all, but the Sister Sandwich gig scheduled for the 24th November 2005 at the Tap House, Kiddermister has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.

News Update – August 2005
Hi there Sandwich lovers!

It's been a while since we've had any news for you, but it's been so long since we've had anything to report. The band have had the past 3 months off from Sandwich duty but met up at the weekend to work on new material! Don't want to give too much away, but the new stuff sounds good the session can only be described as being 'very creative'.

We still keep promising to get back into the studio, but no news as yet you'll have to make do with the 'Ready, Bready, Cook!' album for the time being.

I can confirm two dates one date for the autumn: the Talbot, Bewdley 20th October with support from Ledbury's finest punk band 'Billy Whizz' whom themselves recently supported 'The Buzzcocks', and a gig at the Tap House in Kidderminster on 24th November.

I'd just like to say 'hi' to Sister Dean, who rang me out of the blue and is living in South Wales. Sister Dean played with the band over 12 years ago and left to play for the top Iron Maiden tribute band 'Hi-on Maiden'. Check this space as he mentioned about a support slot for the Sarnies in the future!!!!! (not sure what they'll make of us).

Anyway, back to whatever I was doing before.. can't remember what but it's better than waffling on, writing drivel and wasting everyone's time (including my own!), oh! Young people today.. the price of fish.. blah.. blah.. blah.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Update (Some Buttered News!) – February 2005
Happy New Year Sandwich Fans!

I'd just like to mention a few bits of news and stuff. Firstly thanks to the beautiful people of Bishop's Castle for the support they gave us on Friday night, nothing quite beats the atmosphere created by the BC crowd – I hope that you all had a great night! Thanks to Cath and Whitty for inviting us over.

I would also like to mention that if you have any photos or would like to contribute at all to this website then please get in touch it's a lot of work for one or two people. Photos of past gigs would be appreciated, particularly as the band don't get top see most of them. E-mail any comments / reviews of gigs or this site, and of course photos, to the band. If you have any problems, then please try to contact us to let us know.

Anyway, bye for now – thanks for visiting us and thanks to all those people who give us their wholehearted support. R'spect Due!!!

News update – December 2004

Hallo again there folks! Hope you like the updated version of the website, thanks once again to Paul Long and especially Cez for making this work (just the contact link to go!!!!)

The band has been very busy over the past few weeks, the Talbot in Bewdley and the Village Inn in Wednesbury being the fortunate venues…

With no gigs planned for Xmas, the Sarnies should be busy in the New Year, gigs in Bewdley, Bristol and Ledbury being in the pipeline – keep checking this site for updates.

We also plan to record this coming year now that we have 8/9 tracks that are worthy of going on CD. Probable tracks include crowd faves 'Toxic', 'Centrefold' and 'Can't get you out of my head', but the full details of what and when are yet to be decided.

Don't forget you can download some Sandwich tracks on the download section of this luverly website. Oh! and also look out for a new animated short from Chris Tap featuring a top Sister Sandwich tune!

See ya all soon, have a fluffy Xmas and New Year!

News Update – October 2004

Yo folks – thought it was about time to give you a quick update as to what Sister Sandwich have been up to and what we are doing in the near future.

Well things have been fairly quiet following a couple of gigs over the summer – we headlined the Bishop's Castle festy which raised over £2000 for charities such as Survival International. Thanks to all the people who turned up – it was quite a weekend!

Next gig is in luverly Bewdley – we are playing the Talbot on Thursday 18th November so be there if you can. The nights at the Talbot are always a bit lively.

If you get a chance then have a gander at Chris Tap's new web site which features an animation (Wizard of Odd) featuring a Sister Sandwich track.

Any road better go, hopefully see you at a gig soon. Keep checking the site for further news of gigs etc. Also you can contact the band on e–mail at sistersandwich@02.co.uk

Just a quickie! Welcome to the new Web site, thanks to Paul Long for setting up and inputting all the information – what a guy! The site will be constantly updated and should include downloads of music in the near future.

Things are pretty quiet on the Sandwich front at the moment, but although we are not playing live for a while we are busy working on a batch of new songs including Britney's Toxic. We will be playing in August at Bishop's Castle (Bank Holiday 28th) with a whole host of bands and DJ's…we'll keep you posted, so keep checking the web site for updates!

If you want to be e–mailed for any gig news, please send an e–mail to sistersandwich@02.co.uk and you will automatically be sent information of forthcoming gigs.
